Hello ShotDeck friends, we tragically lost an artist and member of our community last week – DP Halyna Hutchins. When we conceived this site some years back we wanted to make it a helpful tool, a place for research, reference and education but most of all wanted it to be a celebration of the images and the artists who make them. A place where one could study the frames, the composition, the lighting, the design and then draw on those images as inspiration for your future projects. Halyna’s senseless death really hit us hard and has left me both incredibly heartbroken and angry. We should hold her memory with us on set to make sure this won’t ever happen again. This post, I hope will do a small part to honor her art, her boldness and creative courage and serve as a lasting place to celebrate her talent and inspire the future Halyna Hutchins.
